Bait
with Autobaiter version 2
Arnie Leapzorp is a hick farmer. To see more about his background, see Arnie Leapzorp meets Ammed Aideed.
This bait is supposedly with a gold and diamond miner. 15 emails
were exchanged. There are some interesting points about this bait.
- The victim as a middle man for commodities is a less
popular scam.
- The computer incorrectly classifies this as a "lone
survivor" type.
- The scripts I prepared for the "lone survivor" were
dubious under these circumstances. The bait should have failed, but it
worked out well as you will see.
- A Western Union receipt was automatically generated
successfully.
I decided not to bother with continuing the bait at dialog #
3, but changed my mind at dialog #4. Unfortunately, I was using
HotPop as an email provider and the company that runs it seems to have
disappeared in the middle of the test. I tried sending and
downloading email for 2 weeks to no avail. There were around 45
baits going on with the program, and they all abruptly ended.
What follows is the computer's log of the bait.
The
scammer email is in blue.
My added comments are
highlighted in yellow.
The computer replies
(Arnie) are in black.
Just below the /\/\/\ headers
for Arnie are a line of information used in the email reply. The send-mail
program uses that line to get the email address
and subject.
